What does GSM mean?

The standard measurement for weight of fabrics is Gram-mes per Square Meter (GSM). This is also used to indicate the quality of a towel. The higher GSM the better the quality.

Which GSM?

The first question often asked is what weight of towel is best? Towels are measured by GSM: Grams per Square Meter which is the density of the towel (This is the accepted standard.). But, in our view, 550-700gsm is the ideal weight to balance softness and absorbency at a cost effective price. But weight is only important if the cotton is of a premium quality and this has to do with the length of the fiber, otherwise known as the staple.

The softness and absorbency of a towel will be greater with increasing GSM, therefore the higher the GSM, the more luxurious the towel. A towel that weighs less than 400gsm will feel thin and this should be the minimum weight for hand/guest towels. Luxury towels fall in the region of 550 – 700gsm and higher in some cases.

There is always something about Linen that tickled my fancy.. I think it is because I am personally out-and-out comfort loving person and I can't think of any other fabric besides "Linen" that offers pure, unadulterated comfort clothing

The best thing about Linen fabric is its super moisture absorption capacity- that's why is also called as most thirsty fabric and rightly so. This quality of fabric is anti-static because it holds more moisture and prevents static build up.

Keeping these attributes in mind I took out Linen shirt from my closet today. The soft feel and the cool of linen fabric on my skin was the perfect tranquilizer I needed for the day.

As Linen is the most used fabric in the world. In countries with Hot and Humid weather, Linen is preferred fabric for making garments. But, apart from that "linen' is extensively used for almost all the clothing items- including Bed, bath and table.

I always wanted to write my own Blog,but for lack of time, I never did, until now. This week I decided to start my Blog, and found myself with a quite interesting challenge, what to write about on my first Blog post?

Well, I did some research, I read many pages with tips on what to write for my first post, and while they are all very good I think they were missing very simple and obvious tips, and that's why i choose to write my tips here on "LINEN" Though I am terrified of writing.But really want to have a Blog, so hey, if I Don't start writing  I will never get better right?
